Switch Hitter (POM Body / Metal Caps)

46mm Width
66.5g Weight with Metal Caps
Based off the First Base and Joyride launched in 2015, birthing a modern wave of organic yoyo design (peep the records π) - we present the Switch Hitter.
Caps are a timeless YoYo design element, going back to Duncan Butterflies and Wheels.
They add a solid feeling to your YoYo while itβs waiting to be thrown, and as youβre catching it. You feel more evenly distributed momentum during play. Making many capped YoYos have the famous βfloatyβ feeling designers chase.
Capped YoYos are the antithesis of competitive design.
- The Switch Hitter comes in two varieties : Plastic POM Caps, or Metal Caps -
The Plastic Caps are classic YoYo nostalgia. Beautiful opaque color and the encompassing soft touch that comes with a fully plastic yoyo. It has a substantial, and stable feel because POM is a molecularly denser plastic versus poly carbonate. But it is also very laid-back. The YoYo you take to the park / beach / bar when you just want to noodle around some of your auto-pilot combos.
The Metal Caps bring a more serious, intentional feel, to an otherwise very relaxed play experience. Although adding only 1 gram of total weight to the YoYo, because it is placed on the most outer-lying point of the design, it creates an entirely different play experience.
All Switch Hitter bodies are machined out of POM plastic for a classic toy feel - with the precision concentricity that comes with machining a YoYo.
- POM Plastic is very flexible - disassembling your Switch Hitter might require tuning to keep it perfectly smooth -

Recess founder Tyler Severance has always loved organic shaped yo-yos. Going back to his 2007 World and National 5A titles won with a Duncan Freehand. They fit more comfortably in your hand, they have a more approachable look, they feel more like a toy in an industry full of V Shapes that scream βequipmentβ.
Organic yo-yos are famously unstable. But the gap of the Switch Hitter, Joyride, and First Base utilize a V Shape step, which acts as a counteracting stabilizer keeping your Yoyo spinning straighter, longer. While still giving the player the feel and aesthetic of an organic Yoyo.
